How to find us

The Royal Academy is located in Central London, on Piccadilly. The closest tube stations are Piccadilly Circus and Green Park. Bus numbers 8, 9, 14, 19, 22 and 38 stop outside the RA on Piccadilly.

AIRPORTS
Heathrow
By Tube. The Piccadilly line is the most direct route from Heathrow to the centre of London. The journey takes 40 to 50 minutes.
By Bus. Airlink services run direct from Terminals 1 to 4 to a number of central London destinations every 15 to 30 minutes.
By train. Heathrow Express runs direct from Paddington to Heathrow Airport. Visit their website for details. Also available is the Heathrow- Feltham Rail Air link for train services to Reading, Staines and South West London.


Gatwick
London Transport does not operate any services to and from Gatwick.
By train. Connex South Central and Gatwick Express rail services run direct from Gatwick to Victoria station. Journey time is 30 to 35 minutes. Thameslink services run from Gatwick to Blackfriars, London Bridge, Farringdon and Kings Cross. For details of train times see the Railtrack web site or the Gatwick Express web site.


Stansted
Stansted Sky Train services run from Liverpool Street or Tottenham Hale stations. For times visit the Railtrack web site.
Flightline coaches run hourly between Victoria and Stansted daily.


BUSES There are five bus routes, listed below, which stop on Piccadilly.

The number 9 bus service Route: Hammersmith, Kensington, Knightsbridge, Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Aldwych.

The number 14 bus service Route: Putney Heath (Green Man), Putney, Fulham Broadway, South Kensington, Knightsbridge, Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly Circus, Tottenham Court Road Station. On schooldays two afternoon journeys start from Putney (Elliott School).

The number 19 bus service Route: Finsbury Park, Highbury, Islington, Bloomsbury, Tottenham Court Road Station, Piccadilly Circus, Hyde Park Corner, Knightsbridge, Sloane Square, Chelsea, Battersea Bridge (Southside).

The number 22 bus service Route: Putney Common, Putney Bridge, Parsons Green, Chelsea, Sloane Square, Knightsbridge, Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly Circus.

The number 38 bus service Route: Victoria, Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly Circus, Tottenham Court Road Station, Bloomsbury, Islington, Dalston, Hackney, Clapton Pond.


TUBE

The closest tube stations are Piccadilly (on the Piccadilly and Bakerloo lines) and Green Park (on the Jubilee, Piccadilly and Victoria lines). Oxford Circus and Bond Street are the nearest tube stations on the Central Line. Both are approximately 10 minutes walk away.
